Kieran Trippier was one of England’s best players at the 2018 World Cup, but the defender’s form for Tottenham Hotspur this season has been mixed.
Indeed, Trippier had a bit of a stinker against Manchester City on Monday night, and it was his mistake that saw the champions make the breakthrough.
As it turned out, Riyad Mahrez’s goal decided the match as the Citizens recorded a 1-0 win, and Trippier has now faced criticism from the Spurs supporters.
Indeed, many of the club’s fans took to social media in the aftermath of the City defeat to reveal their disappointment when it comes to the Englishman’s form.
Trippier – on £35,000-a-week at Tottenham – has even been accused of living off the wonderful free kick that he scored in the 2018 World Cup semi-final against Croatia.
The reaction from the Spurs fans is perhaps a touch harsh when considering that their team have won four of their last five Premier League matches.
However, it would be fair to say that a number are frustrated with their side at the moment, and that has shown on social media.
