Before facing Arsenal, Southampton had lost all of their last three Premier League games, a run that included a 9-0 loss at the hands of Leicester City.
Therefore, many will likely have been left frustrated by the fact that the Gunners were unable to take all three points against the South Coast side, who currently occupy a place in the relegation zone.

The eventual 2-2 draw will be seen as a shocking result for Unai Emery and his team, but one man who can walk out of the game with their head held high is Matteo Guendouzi.
He put in a brilliant performance defensively, with the most notable contribution being that he completed all of his four tackles attempted during the game – a tally that saw him joint-top with David Luiz.

In addition to that, the 20-year-old made two clearances and four interceptions, he had the joint-highest total of any Arsenal player in the latter category, alongside Lucas Torreira.
The Frenchman, who is rated at £40.5m on Transfermarkt, was also effective with the ball at his feet, completing three of his four attempted dribbles, keeping a pass success rate of 91% and playing one key pass.
Arsenal’s overall performance in this game simply wasn’t good enough, but Guendouzi managed to shine, even if it wasn’t enough to earn his side all three points.
