Leeds United need a striker. Fortunately, the Whites have a number of targets in mind, but the bad news is that it’s going to cost them a pretty penny.
Three men that Leeds have in their sights are Che Adams, Dwight Gayle and Cauley Woodrow, and we know exactly how much each striker would cost Leeds if they wanted to bring them in.
What’s the story then?
The Athletic state that Che Adams would be an initial £1m loan fee along with an obligation to buy for at least £10m next summer. The Daily Mirror (January 9, page 56) state that Woodrow is valued at £7m, and The Sun’s Alan Nixon has now provided an update on how much Gayle would be available for.

It was previously thought that the Newcastle would have to be signed on a deal similar to the one needed to bring in Adams, but with a fee of around £20m, but Nixon reckons that he’s available to buy this month for £8m.
Forget about Woodrow
Whether Leeds want to pursuit Gayle or Adams is up to them, but this update makes one thing absolutely certain, they should forget about Woodrow.
Gayle and Adams both netted more than 20 goals last season in the Championship, and with the Southampton man being six years younger than the 29-year-old there’s an argument to be made that he’s the one they should sign.
However, signing the Barnsley man for £7m when Gayle is available for just £1m more would be foolish.
The Magpies forward is a proven commodity at this level, and while Woodrow has scored nine goals in 22 appearances this term, it’s the first time he’s ever shown any semblance of being a good striker at this level. That’s shown by the fact that his best goal tally in a Championship season before this was five for Burton during 2016/17.
Gayle, on the other hand, has scored 20 plus in the second tier on more than one occasion.
In other news, Leeds fans have been ripping into one man after their game against Sheffield Wednesday.
