The young midfielder missed the trip to Tottenham last weekend and United later confirmed that the player had picked up a muscle injury. now reports that Mainoo will remain out of action at least until the end of March. This means that he will not be available for selection in Thomas Tuchel's maiden England squad, with the Three Lions set to face Albania and Latvia in 2026 World Cup qualifying matches on March 21 and 24 respectively.

Mainoo's news comes as a major blow for Ruben Amorim as the player will miss the club's next five outings against Everton, Ipswich Town, Fulham in the FA Cup, Arsenal and Leicester City. The 19-year-old, however, is expected to return to action in the match against Nottingham Forest on April 1.
