As reported by Tuttosport, Juventus believe they’ve done enough to convince Liverpool star Emre Can to join the club this summer.
What’s the story?
With just one year left on his contract at Anfield, Liverpool find themselves with a difficult dilemma regarding his future should he decide not to sign a new deal with the Reds in short order.
Tuttosport report that Juventus are confident of completing a £31m move for the German international, despite Jurgen Klopp’s desire to keep him at Anfield.
Klopp has recently gone on record to say the club are still in talks with the midfielder but the latest reports from Italy will certainly be a worry for Liverpool fans.
As quoted by The Liverpool Echo, Klopp said of the situation:
Emre is a very important player for us. We don’t want to sell or lose players who are in our first line up or close to it. Emre is certainly one of them. We want to keep him and we’re having good talks.
Can the Reds hold onto one of their most consistent performers in the Klopp era?
How important is he?
Can played in the vast majority of Liverpool’s English Premier League matches last term, 32 in total and often provided the kind of all-round midfield display at the Reds will need if they’re to compete for silverware again next season.
Performances like the one in the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford point to a player that on his day can be one Liverpool’s best, linking defence and attack expertly.
With the Anfield faithful hoping the side can be improved this summer rather than be weakened, they’ll be keeping their fingers crossed that Klopp is correct in his assertion that new contract talks are going well.
