Liverpool were left frustrated by an incredibly pragmatic performance from Manchester United on Saturday, failing to break the deadlock in what proved to be a painfully dull scoreless draw.
Whether Jurgen Klopp should have been more proactive in stopping United leave Anfield with what was a rather easy point in the end remains a debate for another day.
But it can certainly be argued Liverpool did more to win the game than the visitors, who stuck ten men behind the ball and rarely looked like threatening a Reds defence that has been porous on the most part this season.
And there were some noteworthy performances to speak of. While Dejan Lovren and Joe Gomez stood out in stopping United’s occasional counter-attacks, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino did their best to make a difference at the other end – whereas Georginio Wijnaldum looked lively in the engine room.
