Daniel Arzani has returned to Celtic training, as photographed by The Daily Record.
What’s the story?
Arzani suffered a serious ACL injury just 23 minutes into his Celtic debut last season but has finally returned to training. The Australian limped off against Dundee in October and only now is he returning to first-team action.
Lennon has previously backed the 20-year-old to have an impact on the Celtic squad this season after last year’s injury nightmare, and Arzani will be hoping that the Celtic boss will be true to his word and give him a chance upon his return to training.
Arzani’s return means he joins wingers Scott Sinclair, Mikey Johnston, Jonny Hayes, James Forrest, Marian Shved and Lewis Morgan in competing for the wide berths at Celtic. The strength in depth in this position is now so strong that some could have to adapt to other areas to secure game time.
Johnston is one who has played centrally and Hayes has filled in at left-back, but it might just be Sinclair who could best use a change. The 30-year-old has previously played upfront for Celtic, and if he moves there again it could open more opportunities for the returning Arzani, while also impacting any potential new striker signings.

Scott Sinclair the striker
Sinclair has lead the line before for Celtic but only in the case of injury or suspension. With Moussa Dembele, Leigh Griffiths and Odsonne Edouard all being at the club during his Parkhead career there has been little need for the Englishman to play up top often.
Yet Lennon’s striking options don’t look quite so rosy now; Griffiths is just returning, Vakoun Bayo has featured just once in six months and Edouard needs a consistent back-up.
Sinclair did well playing centrally against FK Sarajevo and it might be wise to consider it as a long term option. This is especially true given Lennon has made no secret of wanting to sign another striker.
Sinclair could be a cheap alternative to a potential big-money move for a back-up striker, while also allowing Arzani to force his way into Lennon’s plans on the wing.
