As reported by The Guardian, Chelsea are set to be rocked by approaches from Real Madrid for two of their finest players.
What’s the story?
Chelsea are having an absolutely storming season so it’s no surprise that certain members of their squad are the envy of Europe’s biggest clubs, however, no club quite has the pulling power of Real Madrid.
The Guardian reckon that Madrid are eyeing up moves for Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois, two of Antonio Conte’s most important players.
Part of the Spanish club’s strategy in landing Hazard will be attempting to exchange with Alvaro Morata, a player who has worked under Antonio Conte before.
The report says that Madrid are confident of securing the players, despite both publicly acknowledging they love life at Stamford Bridge.
How badly would they be missed?
Courtois has been nothing short of a giant in his time at Chelsea, almost every present when fit and available. Close to make 100 total appearances for the club in less than three seasons, it’s clear he’s the main man between the sticks at Stamford Bridge and that is something that is always hard to replace.
At the other end of the pitch, Eden Hazard is often the driving force behind wins and has been a stand out for the side ever since joining the club in 2012. 66 goals in 237 appearances show an incredible goalscoring consistency from midfield, a consistency that would be desperately hard to replace, even with the resources Chelsea have available.
If Antonio Conte wants his team to remain at the top of English football then holding on to these star men is absolutely imperative.
