Southampton tasted defeat yet again in their season of misery, as Leicester City eliminated Mark Hughes’ side in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.
The League Cup had produced two Saints wins this season, double the tally of their Premier League campaign despite the fact they have played 11 times more in the top flight.
Fans who travelled to the King Power Stadium saw their side lose on penalties after playing out a 0-0 draw.

Strikers Michael Obafemi and Manolo Gabbiadini both had opportunities to open the scoring for Southampton, with the Irish forward missing a great chance before the Italian saw his late free-kick tipped onto the bar.
Steven Davis had put the ball in the back of the net, but his effort was ruled out when the referee turned to VAR and deemed Nathan Redmond to have used his arm to control the ball during the build-up.
VAR was again turned to later in the second half to determine if the Foxes deserved a penalty, with the decision this time going in favour of the Saints.
Having been on both sides of the tool, Saints fans had reason to be frustrated but these supporters backed the decision to rule out Davis’ effort.
