[ad_pod ]Loads of Sunderland fans have been reacting to Sunday’s heartbreak at Wembley, and they’re full of praise for Lee Cattermole.Penalty shoot-outs are a truly horrible way to decide a game, and someone has to be the villain.For the Black Cats of course, it was captain Cattermole who fluffed his lines at Wembley, as Jack Ross’ side fell to a devastating defeat in the Checkatrade Trophy final.
Aiden McGeady put them in front in the first half and it really looked like the capital was going to get painted red and white for a second night in a row, but Nathan Thompson levelled with ten minutes to spare.
McGeady and Jamal Lowe then traded goals in extra-time, leaving the game to be decided from the spot.
Cattermole was the only player of the ten to miss, and Ross’ side must now focus all their attention on securing promotion.
