It has been reported by football.london that various clubs are hoping to recruit Conor Gallagher on loan from Chelsea.
The 19-year-old has excelled at Charlton Athletic this season, which has led the likes of Rangers, Burnley, Norwich City and West Bromwich Albion all being interested in signing him on a temporary basis.
Charlton are hoping that the midfielder will see out the entirety of his loan spell with them, due to how integral a part of their season he has been up until this point.
That is because in 24 Championship starts and one substitute appearance, he has scored six goals and added a further two assists.
Outside of that, he has averaged 1.9 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 0.8 key passes and 1.4 dribbles per game, while he is also fouled 2.1 times.
Therefore, it is vital that the Addicks are able to keep hold of him, with Lee Bowyer having the potential to be an important part of that happening.
It’s the dawn of a new decade in the Premier League, but how much do you know about the last 10 years?
This point is supported by the role he played in Josh Cullen staying at the Valley for the current campaign, following an initial successful spell.
The Republic of Ireland international had played 29 times in the League One campaign that saw them promoted via the play-offs, while he also played in the cross that led to the winner in the final.
He joined for a second loan period following that success and later revealed the part Bowyer played in ensuring that happened:
“Bows was one of the main reasons I joined Charlton in the first place. It’s easy to learn from a manager like that and, from when I joined last season up to now, I’ve loved playing under him.
“Every day in training, learning from him and getting little chats here and there, he’s given me pointers which I’ve thought is helping me improve so I’m loving my time at Charlton.”
With Gallagher reportedly split on whether or not to stay at the Valley, Bowyer may need to rework his magic to ensure that the teenager remains at Charlton for the rest of the season.
Meanwhile, Charlton have been linked with a player who was once wanted by Barcelona.
