An Arsenal supporter has been charged with assault for allegedly headbutting Manchester United legend Roy Keane last year.

The supporter is said to have confronted Keane after Arsenal's 3-1 win against the Red Devils at the Emirates Stadium last September. The fan allegedly attempted to headbutt the former midfielder as he headed to the Sky Sports studio for a post-match analysis, while fellow pundit Micah Richards intervened.

A 43-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of assault, and it was confirmed on Wednesday that he will appear at Highbury Magistrates’ Court on March 14 to face the charges. The man, identified as Scott Law, from Waltham Abbey in Essex, was reported to have broken his nose in the alleged attack.

The clash between Arsenal and United looked to be heading for a draw with the score tied at 1-1 until late on. Alejandro Garnacho thought he had given the visitors the win, but his 88th-minute goal was disallowed following a VAR review and Arsenal went on to take the three points with stoppage-time efforts from Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus.
