Tottenham Hotspur’s ambitions of strengthening in the summer transfer window have been steady to say the least, often being unable to land any of their key targets.
Morgan Gibbs-White was arguably the biggest target this summer, but missed out on his signature after he signed a new three-year deal at Nottingham Forest.
However, other targets have already arrived in North London, with Mohammed Kudus and João Palhinha, the two additions made by Thomas Frank since his arrival.
The Dane will need to act quickly if he is to improve his current first-team squad, with the 2025/26 Premier League season set to get underway in just a couple of days.
Numerous players continue to be linked with a switch to join the Lilywhites, with the hierarchy making key moves in an attempt to back the new manager in his quest for success.
The latest on Spurs’ hunt for new additions this summer
The last few days have seen transfer speculation rapidly mounting at Spurs, as they desperately hunt for key depth in various areas of the pitch to avoid the injury crisis from the previous season.
Players such as Eberechi Eze, James McAtee and Nico Paz have all been touted with moves to North London, but no deals are yet to advance for any of the aforementioned stars.
However, key dealings have been conducted elsewhere, with Manchester City star Savinho still remaining as a key target for Frank, according to Brazilian outlet Globo.
They claim that talks are well underway to sign the 21-year-old winger, who managed to register nine combined goals and assists in the Premier League during the 2024/25 campaign.
It also states that the player himself has given the green light over a move to join the Lilywhites this summer, leading to Pep Guardiola’s side putting a £60m price tag on his head.
Why Spurs’ latest target would be a better signing than Rodrygo
In an attempt to improve the options at the manager’s disposal, Real Madrid star Rodrygo has been another player they’ve been pursuing over the last couple of weeks.
The Brazilian appears to be out of favour under new boss Xabi Alonso, opening the door to a potential exit despite notching 24 goal contributions in the recent season.
However, any attempts to land the 24-year-old may be on hold, with multiple other Premier League teams also currently in the race for the forward’s signature.
Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea have all been credited with an interest in landing the LaLiga talent, who could cost as much as £86m before the September 1st deadline.
Such a deal would be a club record for Spurs, potentially one that’s out of their price range, which could see them move onto other targets this summer.
As a result, they could decide to push through with a move to land Savinho, potentially getting themselves a better player for the present, whilst also keeping one eye on the future.
Whilst the City star is a couple of years younger than Rodrygo, he’s managed to outperform him in key areas in recent months, highlighting the talent he possesses.

Savinho, who’s been labelled “unbelievable” by current boss Guardiola, managed to post a better shot on target accuracy rate – which could provide the side with a greater goal threat in their hunt for success throughout 2025/26.
He also managed to complete more of the take-ons, whilst registering more carries into the opposition’s box per 90, able to get the ball into forward areas and provide chances for other attackers in front of goal.
The 21-year-old’s dominance over his compatriot is further highlighted in his ability to complete more crosses per 90, able to achieve an end product to his mazy runs – whether that be personally or finding a teammate – adding a new dimension to the club’s already potent frontline.
Both players would undoubtedly provide serious quality to the current side, but based on their recent numbers, it’s clear that Savinho would be a better signing for the Lilywhites.
He’s managed to outperform Rodrygo despite being three years his senior, having the ability to explode into life and develop into a world-class talent under Frank in North London.
